Fostering Creativity and Innovation: Workshop on Design Thinking and Innovation

The Department of B.Com. Corporate Secretaryship at Kangeyam Institute of Commerce (KIC) hosted an enriching two-day workshop on “Design Thinking, Critical Thinking, and Innovation Design” on January 27 and 28, 2025, at the KIC Seminar Hall. This insightful event aimed to equip students with practical problem-solving skills and encourage innovative approaches to real-world challenges.

Led by Mr. K. Sivakumar, Senior Grade Assistant Professor at Builders Engineering College, Kangeyam, the workshop provided a deep dive into the principles of design thinking. Through interactive sessions and hands-on activities, students explored the five stages of design thinking: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. Mr. Sivakumar emphasized how understanding user needs and approaching problems from multiple perspectives can lead to effective and innovative solutions.

The sessions also highlighted the role of critical thinking in decision-making, encouraging students to challenge assumptions, analyze problems logically, and explore creative alternatives. Participants engaged in collaborative brainstorming exercises, case studies, and group discussions, enhancing their ability to think outside the box.

By the end of the workshop, students not only gained valuable insights into fostering innovation but also developed practical strategies to apply design thinking principles in their academic, professional, and personal pursuits. The workshop successfully inspired participants to embrace creativity, adapt to change, and approach challenges with a solution-oriented mindset.
