On January 9, 2025, the KIC Campus came alive with laughter, excitement, and friendly competition as students from all departments gathered to celebrate “Wide-Eyed Wonder,” an event dedicated to traditional Indian games. Organized with the aim of reconnecting students with India’s rich cultural heritage, the event offered a refreshing break from routine, encouraging teamwork, physical fitness, and mental agility.
Traditional games have long been an integral part of India’s cultural fabric, passed down through generations as more than just pastimes. They teach valuable life skills such as strategy, coordination, and resilience while fostering social bonds. The event provided students with an opportunity to experience these age-old games, many of which they might not have encountered before.
From Pallanguzhi and Kho Kho to Lagori and Kabaddi, the campus transformed into a vibrant playground. Students enthusiastically participated, forming teams across departments, breaking down barriers, and enjoying healthy competition. The games not only tested their physical endurance but also sharpened their problem-solving skills and quick thinking.
The event’s objectives were met with great success. Students not only rediscovered the joy of traditional play but also experienced firsthand how such activities promote teamwork, inclusiveness, and stress relief. The shared laughter, camaraderie, and friendly rivalries fostered a strong sense of community, reminding everyone that while technology continues to advance, the simplicity and joy of traditional games remain timeless.
“Wide-Eyed Wonder” was more than just an event; it was a celebration of culture, connection, and community spirit, leaving participants with cherished memories and a renewed appreciation for India’s rich heritage.
